Milan’s 3 Tone-Setters

There is a reason Milan holds the center of fashion’s 3 key cities (New York, Milan, and Paris) which the last 5 days (Feb.26-Mar.2) have proven. Basically, New York is mildly shown up (possibly ridiculed?) by the established designers in Milan who then up the ante and raise the bar sky high for Paris to attempt to clear (which they usually do; not taking anything away from Milan though). Also, that is the order in which they present collections. Some trends were followed (skirts/minis for fall), some exaggerated (a bold shoulder) and some started (high collars). The collections this Fall/Winter season in Milan were sensational, but only 3 designers took the cake. These 3 designers exhibited collections which revealed daring, inventive, scintillating, and truly ingenious fashion. Although they push the envelope every season (as every designer should), they’ve each outdone themselves this time around.

blazer: check out gennie from new york, she’s so adorable and her DIY is innovative and gave me a total sense of accomplishment having started it. (

jeans: you can tell i have an affinity for acid washing. pyramid studs down the outer seams work well, as do the studded pants in paris vogue’s editorial of Laetitia Casta (
